Our History
Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers was founded and incorporated in 1993,
and received its first federal Section 330 grant in October 1993. Scenic Bluffs
is
a not-for-profit corporation and governed by a volunteer community Board
of
Directors. The original Cashton facility opened in April of 1994. Collaboration
with the Cashton Area Developmental Corporation resulted in the expansion
of
the Cashton facility to include dental operations and a new site in Cashton
opened in 2000. Collaboration with the Greater Norwalk Area Development
Corporation and the Village of Norwalk resulted in the opening of that site
in
May of 1999.
We own three buildings – two with clinic space (including one that has a gym)
and one for administration. Business offices are included in the main
clinic
in Cashton – a 12,045 square foot facility. The facility has seven medical
exam rooms, two chiropractic exam rooms, 14 dental operatories, a patient
pharmacy, and one treatment room. Our Norwalk clinic offers four exam rooms
and one treatment room.
Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers is a large, community-based primary
care
service provider, caring for western Wisconsin. In addition to serving rural
communities in the villages of Cashton, and Norwalk, Scenic Bluffs targets
the
needs of the isolated elderly, Old Order Amish, Medicaid dental patients
and
Latino groups in western Wisconsin.
Scenic Bluffs provides primary medical care in Cashton and Norwalk, with primary
care practitioners, including physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners
as well as a health educator and a pharmacist. Dental services are offered
in
Cashton by dentists and hygienists. The Cashton site also offers chiropractic
services and behavioral health.
We maintain good relationships with local school districts, Monroe, Vernon and La Crosse County public health departments, local police and fire departments, regional health care systems, and professional training programs including UW-Madison UW-La Crosse, Viterbo College, Winona State University Nursing Program and Western Wisconsin Technical College. Scenic Bluffs also closely collaborates with the Scenic Rivers Area Health Education Center.
