Scenic Bluffs is governed by a volunteer community board of directors, composed of a majority of Health Center consumers who represent the populations we serve. Meeting monthly, the board establishes and guides general policies and procedures for Scenic Bluffs. If you are interested in serving on our Board of Directors, please fill out an application below.

Kim Hawthorne

Kim Hawthorne, CEO

Since 2021, Kim Hawthorne has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers. Kim has more than 35 years of healthcare leadership experience, working in public health and other health systems across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

Kim received her Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Administration from Northern Illinois University.  Additionally, she is a certified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executive (FACHE).

Prior to her work at Scenic Bluffs, Kim spent twelve years with Mayo Clinic running a rural hospital and various primary care and surgical practices. She also spent time with Gundersen and The Monroe Clinic, as well as 10 years working for both national and provider owned health plans.  Kim holds many professional recognitions and awards, is an experienced speaker and presenter, and has been involved in many statewide and community boards, coalitions and committees, including the Rural WI Healthcare Cooperative.

Steve Huntzicker

Steve Huntzicker, COO

Steve Huntzicker has been serving as the Chief Operations Officer of Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers since 2015. With a wealth of experience spanning nearly 30 years in both the healthcare and agricultural fields, Steve brings a comprehensive background to his role.

He holds a Master of Professional Development from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Before joining Scenic Bluffs, Steve spent a decade as the La Crosse County Agriculture Agent for UW-Extension and dedicated six years to teaching high school agriculture.

Beyond his responsibilities at Scenic Bluffs, Steve is actively engaged in coaching high school athletics and plays an active role in various community organizations.

Sara Cook

Sara Cook, CDO

Since 2022, Sara Cook has served as the Chief Development Officer of Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers, working with human resources, workforce development, and organizational development through grants and community partnerships. She also serves as the administrative lead of SBCHC's behavioral health department. Sara brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, fund development, program assessment and review, and institutional assessment.

Sara holds a PhD in Organization and Management and an MBA., as well as a certificate in Non-Profit Leadership. Prior to her time at Scenic Bluffs, Sara worked at Viterbo University for more than 20 years in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness.

Sara is a native of Cashton, with strong ties to the community, including serving on the Cashton school board for the past 16 years.  

Dr. Laurie Logan

Dr. Laurie Logan, CMO

Dr. Laurie Logan has held the role of Chief Medical Officer at Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers since 2023. With more than three decades of medical experience, she has been instrumental in leading successful initiatives in chronic pain and disease management, cancer screenings, and wellness promotion and education for patients.

Dr. Logan earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago and completed her residency at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Notably, Dr. Logan was among the first physicians to practice at Scenic Bluffs, providing services through 1998. She later dedicated more than two decades to her role as a physician at Mayo Clinic Health System in Sparta and La Crosse before returning to Scenic Bluffs in 2022.

Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Logan is deeply committed to community service, actively participating in various boards and volunteering her time whenever possible.
